I have been writing songs for many years, playing in local bands in Delaware and trying my hand at the guitar, mandolin, harmonic, and vocals. I've loved music all my life, from the Beatles and Motown that my parents played when I was a kid, to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, the Grateful Dead, The Band, The Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, John Prine, John Hiatt and so many others. I tend to think of music with words first, so I spend a lot of time revising my lyrics. I think my interest in songwriting was sparked by both my love of music and language, and also my impatience in learning the note for note music of others. While friends were disciplined in learning precise solos and songs, my mind drifted to making music of my own.
